29.09.09

ROSVODOKANAL Group, the largest private operator of public water utilities in Russia, is launching the program for reducing water loss at the city vodokanals. Kaluzhski Oblastnoi Vodokanal  (Kaluga regional water company) represents the pilot project. Miya Arison Group – the worldwide leader in the area of non-revenue water problems – has already started to implement the program. Miya’s experts will conduct an NRW audit in Kaluga and work out a strategy for reducing water loss.

The resource saving program is going to enhance technical and economic efficiency of the city water supplying companies called vodokanals, helping them save fresh water.

Last week, the first meeting took place with the participation of Kaluzhski Oblastnoi Vodokanal’s Management, the representatives from Managing Company ROSVODOKANAL and the representatives from Miya Arison Group. An NRW program was determined to be carried out at the water companies in Kaluga. Using state-of-the-art technologies during the audit Miya’s experts will take measurements and examine the operations at the water supplying company to determine the rate of technical and commercial water loss.

In October Miya’s experts will start working with Kaluzhski Oblastnoi Vodokanal to cover the following areas:

1. leakage detection and monitoring (including the latent leakages);

2. determination of water metering sectors;

3. flow management in the water distribution system;

4. water consumption (customer demand) management;

5. eliminating breakages in the pipelines;

6. introduction of new software.

In the future Miya and Kaluzhski Oblastnoi Vodokanal will work out and implement an NRW strategy that would allow to get water losses down to the minimum throughout all water facilities in Kaluga region.

Kaluzhski Oblastnoi Vodokanal represents a pilot project within water saving programs which ROSVODOKANAL Group intends to get going at all of its member companies.
